The lace up fan that I am, I see no other choice but to keep wearing this trend throughout 2016, especially since it’s now expanded to so many new kinds of clothing: sweaters, jackets, shirts, you name it! I really loved the idea of keeping it simple with my new crispy white lace up sweatshirt and I haven’t worn sneakers and flares in a while so this is how this outfit was born. I stocked up on some more lace up pieces that I can’t wait to show you, so stay tuned!
There’s something extremely appealing in not overthinking summer outfits. I always have a crisp white shirt for those days when I feel lazy to dress up, but I usually pair it with boyfriend jeans. This time though I was looking for something fresh and pulled out these flared pants that I completely forgot I had. The mules that I also forgot about seemed like a great match. I do need to go check my memory asap, haha.
Let me start by saying I love new trends. Sometimes I get on the bandwagon a bit later than other fashionistas, but don’t you agree trends make dressing so much more exciting?
I do realize that the 70s trend is either love or hate, though! I’m 100% sold, but I’m not gonna go crazy shopping for all the new 70s inspired garments. I have a better idea – why not make it work with what we already have? I have to admit that it would be harder to recreate a similar look without flares, but that is one of the 70s inspired pieces that I really recommend investing in, because they are here to stay. In this look I incorporated four things I love about about the 70s:
1. Flares, obviously
2. Wearing turtlenecks under light jackets or shirts
3. Safari-inspired outerwear (in my case this is a utility jacket I bought a while ago)
4. Cinched waist (preferably wider belts)
But of course, there’s so much more to this trend than what you’re seeing here and I’m extremely inspired to create more outfits, so stay tuned! P.S. Check out my 70s Inspiration pinterest board for more!

I’ve always had a thing for flares but unfortunately, a good pair of flared pants is not so easy to find. Imagine how excited I was when I spotted these green bad boys on the website of a Ukrainian brand! Don’t judge me if you see them too often, my head’s exploding with ideas of how to style them
