How often do you realize your wardrobe is missing a perfect top to go with your new pants or skirts or to layer under a jacket? In my case that happens on a daily basis. Sometimes I think a new statement top will fix the issue, but the truth is, statement tops are useless if you don’t have a simple neutral piece to glue your outfit together. I mean, if you analyse any street style looks you’ll see all of the fashionistas are wearing simple tops and the statement vibe is almost always achieved by pants or skirts, or outerwear.
Anyways, I’m planning on fixing my wardrobe dysfunction by getting myself a few basic tops to match all of the statement pants I’ve accumulated over the past year, so I figured you guys could use these links too, so shop away if you like’em!

This is such a helpful post! I’ve accumulated way more statement trousers over the last few months than I’ve ever owned, but also a few too many “detailed” tops which just makes my whole outfit look way too busy! You’ve picked out some really beautiful plain pieces here, I’m trying desperately to resist the urge to go out and buy all of them. That pink sweater in the photos is gorgeous too, I’m in love with that neckline.
