be yourself x asos

As part of Asos Be Yourself project I was asked to pick an outfit from Asos that would represent my everyday work style and answer a couple of questions about my work. I have to admit I’m lucky to wear whatever I like whenever I like since I don’t work at an office anymore, but naturally I try to make my clothes look appropriate to where I’m going and fulfill specific tasks.

1. Where do you work and what’s your position?
I work as a fashion stylist on shootings, a personal stylist and a blogger.

2. Which aspects of your work make you get out of bed every morning with enthusiasm?
Every day is not like the other, at work I’m always challenged creatively and get to meet new inspiring people everyday. I’m a huge perfectionist and it makes me happy to see my work highly appreciated, and for that I’m ready to wake up as early as needed.

3. What is a standard dress code in your industry?
No dresscode whatsoever.

4. What constitutes your ultimate outfit combination?
My ultimate combination has to be comfortable, flattering and trendy. I need to be at multiple places throughout the day so I keep all these aspects in mind, when I get dressed in the morning.

5. What are your favorite work shoes and why?
Definitely ankle boots. They are edgy, comfortable and work with so many outfit combinations.

6. Any tips on how to save time doing your hair in the morning?
There’s this old school thing I’m doing every morning. After I wash and blow dry my hair I’m using velcro rollers to add some volume to the roots while I’m doing my makeup. It works!

7. Can you give an advice, fashion-related or not, to the people wishing to work in your industry?
The hardest thing is always to persuade yourself you can achieve things, once you do that the rest is a piece of cake! As for the fashion advice, always analyze the effect you want your clothes to have on people and dress according to that.

8. Why you chose this outfit combination?
I wore this particular outfit yesterday, which was my normal work day, where I styled a shooting in the morning, had my pictures taken in the afternoon, went to pickup clothes and accessories for the upcoming shooting and had a meeting with a client after. A warm statement coat and the turtleneck kept me warm, while the moderate heel on the boots and some loose-fitting jeans kept me comfortable. In a warmer weather I would probably replace the coat with a blazer, and wear some pumps instead, but this pretty much sums up what I like to wear everyday.

With all the deadlines, holidays and really cold temperatures I realized I’ve been completely neglecting taking outfit pictures for the blog. It’s a good thing though I still have this winter outfit we shot back in October for Daniel Wellington’s winter campaign, where for once I was actually dressed warmer than needed.

Styling my Classic Sheffield rose gold watch was a piece of cake, as you’ve probably noticed I’m wearing it in almost all of my outfits, and not because I’m paid to do that but because it’s the most versatile accessory I could wish for, especially when it comes to fall and winter months.

I’m wearing:

Coat – Nastygal (from last year, similar one here)
Sweater – H&M
White shirt – Zara
Jeans – Asos
Boots – Guess
Bag – Saint Laurent
Watch – Daniel Wellington

9 tricks to make your winter outfits interesting

January 6, 2016

As a personal stylist I often find my clients struggle the hardest with their winter style. To be honest I sometimes struggle too, especially since I’m living in a climate where below zero temps are not uncommon for winter months. Most of the time the first things I’m thinking about when it comes to winter style are skinny jeans, heavy boots and lots of knitwear, but let’s face it, such combos are boring.

I’ve drawn up a small list of tricks I’m using to make my winter outfits less boring, when I’m in the mood for it. Are you using any of these? How do you spice up your winter outfits?

1. Ponchos and capes

Just throw a long poncho over your average winter outfit or replace the usual scarf and you immediately look like someone rushing to a fashion show!

2. Overknee boots

They protect your legs from the cold and are extremely trendy right now.

I hope you guys had a lovely New Year and already sorted out all your resolutions for 2016. I’m finding it difficult to express everything I expect from myself in 2016 because 2015 taught me that there is no limit to what I can do and achieve.

Some of my defining moments in 2015 were:
– moving to another city and choosing personal styling as my final career path
– seeing therapist for the first time in my life (I have to confess I faced an identity crisis this summer and getting professional help was one of the     best decisions in my life, if you guys ever doubt – go for it!)
– attending trainings and reading a ton of books on personal growth
– learning to meditate
– Paris Fashion Week
– meeting truly inspiring people that I can learn a lot from

Some of the things I plan to focus on in 2016:
– finding balance between work and pleasure
– building a strong body
– traveling to places I’ve never been
– getting back to learning French and Spanish
– reading books I’ve been saving on my Ipad throughout 2015
– learning to network and delegate

As for the look above, as you can probably tell the pics were taken near Musee du Louvre in Paris. I always forget to post everything we shoot on our trips and was happy to find them browsing through my folders yesterday. It’s super casual as it was taken on the last day of exploring the city, I hope you like it.

I’m wearing:

Coat – Zara
Sweater and jeans – H&M
Shoes – Adidas Stan Smith
Bag – Saint Laurent
Sunglasses – ZeroUV
Watch – Daniel Wellington

wearing black for the new year’s

December 27, 2015

new-year-outfit-ideas-blogger-look

Like I mentioned in my previous post, black, sequins and heels are pretty much my favorite combo to wear to a New Year’s party (well, any party really). Oh, and add sheer, fringe, velvet and sparkle to that!

It’s definitely nothing new but it sure is powerful and sexy. I haven’t decided whether I’m gonna break the tradition this year or go with one of the two outfits above but I really wanted to share these two with you guys as they are very special to me. The beaded cardi and the sequin dress were bought at a vintage shop in Paris back in September and the dress is a vintage YSL, which was two sizes larger and I had it altered to fit me. Real closet treasures if you ask me!
