paris outtakes

fashion-blogger-paris-cafeThis time in Paris I focused a lot more on catching some of its beauty with my iPhone rather than my DSLR, for an Instagram addict like me pictures taken with the phone seem to have more life to them, plus all the editing can be done in 10 seconds. I did, however find a bunch of pics on my laptop to show you guys along with a few tips and observations I made while in Paris.

places-to-see-in-paris

1. If you need to get somewhere fast, don’t take the cab. I made this mistake the previous time, and not only did it cost an arm and a leg, I never got anywhere on time because of the insane traffic. The metro, on the other hand, is super quick and always on schedule.

nika-huk-fashion-blogger-paris2. Never throw away your metro tickets  while you’re still underground, my hubby and I did and it cost us 100 eur. We were confronted by the metro police on our way out and they handled the situation terribly, refusing to speak English (even though they spoke well) or explain anything, still one of the worst memories of Paris and let’s say I’ve had my share of thieves, scammers and rude waiters during my trips to Paris.

3. The best service we get is always in small cafes away from the main tourist streets. The prices are much better too.

4. I’ve been to Paris a couple of times but never had the chance to visit the Louvre, the queues are intimidating. This time we did manage to see Musee d’Orsay, which has the largest collection of impressionists in the world and a lot of French art in general. We went there on the first Sunday of the month and turns out, it’s the only day in the month, when you can get in for free.

Sure, there’s plenty of amazingness in the center, but avoiding hoards of tourists you’ll be able to connect with Paris on a deeper level. Don’t waist your time queuing at Laduree, there’s plenty of great macarons at every corner and do get up as early as you can to see Paris empty, it’s an awesome experience.

6. I know it’s cliche but the Eiffel Tower is my favorite thing to see and I never get tired of it. Don’t limit yourself to Place Trocadero, there’s at least twenty other places, where you can see it from new amazing angles (Google Maps are your friends).

So happy I ordered these shoes just in time for Paris Fashion Week (I actually had to pick them up in Paris), they are the ultimate show stoppers! Since I don’t really like to dress in layers of colors and textures, shoes do most of the talking in my outfits and boy did these babies have something to say. I thought they would be a little uncomfortable, but on the day we shot these pictures I walked at least a mile to find the perfect location for shooting an outfit with blisters from the previous days and felt okay, sort of a shoe crash test in my book.

Too bad it looks like I’ll have to put them away until spring, I still have a number of plain outfits in mind to spice up with these bad boys :)

I’m wearing:

Coat – Asos (on sale!)
Shirt – Zara
Jeans – Asos (similar ones here and here)
Pom poms – Asos Say You Will (true to size, in blue here)
Bag – Saint Laurent
Watch – Michael Kors
Sunnies – ZeroUV

Hi guys, I hope you’re having a great week so far! Mine is kinda freezing, which makes it all the weirder to post these pictures from just ten days ago. They were taken on my second day of Paris Fashion Week after the Issey Miyake show and it was so hot that day that I seriously regretted wearing boots more than once.

This floral dress from Asos, on the other hand, was an absolute dream – light, breezy and so fall appropriate. I can’t even count how many compliments I got from street style photographers and random people. Super glad I have several other outfits to show you from Paris, because our current weather takes some getting used to.

I’m wearing:

Dress – Asos
Boots – Zara (similar ones here and here)
Bag – Asos

Hi guys! Turns out I can bring myself to post an outfit from Paris while being in Paris!

This lovely coat dress was custom made by a young Ukrainian brand called Awake specially for my trip to Paris. I love all the cut outs and the oversized silhouette and I love how it looks with chunky heels, even though initially I planned to wear it with other more fashion week appropriate shoes. I can’t wait to wear it also as a coat once I get back home, maybe throw it on top of a turtleneck and some over the knee boots!

On another note, today is our last full day in Paris, we’ll be catching a plane tomorrow afternoon. It’s been an amazing experience, especially compared to the previous fashion week I went to in 2014. More on that later, right now I’m running out to get some souvenirs for friends and family, will have to be super creative since I exceeded my baggage limit on my way here!

I’m wearing:

Dress – Awake
Heels – Asos
Bag – Asos (still available in white here)
Necklace – Jane Kønig

Hope you guys are having a great week so far! Just checking in to share with you a couple pics from my stay in Paris. I’ve visited countless shows, presentations and exhibitions so far, drank way to much chocolate chaud and may or may not have photographed the Eiffer Tower 200 times lol. We’ll be staying here for a couple more days so head over to my instagram (@fashionagony) for some updates, as I seriously can’t bring myself to make a decent post while I’m here.

P.S. I’m being constantly asked about the pink pom poms, so here’s a link in case you’re wondering where they are from (in blue here) and here’s a post with an overload of pom pom candy.
